Tourist Blog # 1

After four years, Art finally succumbed to a Field Trip. He has been successfully avoiding them for ever! The day dawned beautifully and he agreed to have his business taken care of by noon. We left at 12:30 with our picnic lunch;travelling in our very uncomfortable Subaru...it beats the truck at least we had AC, right?

Our secret destination: The Royal Gorge. I did not take a picture of the River or the Bridge. But thought this flowering cactus was pretty. It was warm and took about 2 hours to get there. We took the air tram across the gorge and watched the hawks riding the air currents. We then walked down hill towards the animals they have in the park.
Art wanted this picture so here it is. This herd had 8 babies this spring. They were cute. If you cross the bridge first and then take the tram across, the walk is entirely uphill. I felt bad for the people who made this choice they were struggling in the heat!

We then watched a "gun fight" in recreated old west town (again Art loved this part)I succeeded in helping Art choose not to buy a holster to hang on the wall. These events are always dicey but Whew!

We returned home with Art exclaiming: When are we going to do this again? (Really? Cool!)

As Sunday draws to a close, we have had the best weekend ever, the neighbor is demolishing his house with a bobcat and it is some great free entertainment. We can hear the thunder coming from the south so the rain is close behind. We are getting a chicken ready to grill and enjoying the backyard.

Garden update:

We have one baby tomatoe. It might be featured in a couple of weeks!
